GoGascony

Gite in the heart of the Armagnac region

Lexis is a lovingly restored former Armagnac domain which retains many original features.  Situated in the beautiful Gers, 7kms from Eauze the capital of the Bas Armagnac region, it is surrounded by fields of sunflowers and vineyards with open views to the Pyrenees.

Gascony is steeped in history and there remain many medieval bastides and fortified villages to explore.  It is largely unexploited by tourism and so it is free from crowds and traffic jams leaving the chance to relax and savour the local gastronomy washed down with local wine, floc de Gascogne and armagnac.  Stunning villages such as Montreal du Gers, Fources, Labastide d'armagnac and Larresingle are on the doorstep.

Our local town Eauze was a former Roman capital and houses a fine collection of Roman jewellery and coins in the museum and archeological remains in the Domus de Ciuetat.  At Seviac there is a beautifully preserved Roman villa with exceptional mosaics.

Eauze is a busy small town with one of the best weekly markets in the department.  There are restaurants, bars and three supermarkets and the cathedral Saint Luperc which dates back to 15th century is on the Chemin de |Saint Jacques de Compostelle.

the pigeonnier, which has its' own access road and private garden sleeps 4.

The 200 square metre former armagnac chai houses  ping pong, badminton and table football and outside there are 5 hectares of private garden and woodland with 12 x 6 m private swimming pool, swings, croquet, badminton and boules court. Lexis  is a tranquil setting from which to discover the unspoilt wealth of rural Gascony.
