Gite in the heart of the Armagnac region
Lexis is a lovingly restored former Armagnac domain which retains many original features. Situated in the beautiful Gers, 7kms from Eauze the capital of the Bas Armagnac region, it is surrounded by fields of sunflowers and vineyards with open views to the Pyrenees.
Gascony is steeped in history and there remain many medieval bastides and fortified villages to explore. It is largely unexploited by tourism and so it is free from crowds and traffic jams leaving the chance to relax and savour the local gastronomy washed down with local wine, floc de Gascogne and armagnac. Stunning villages such as Montreal du Gers, Fources, Labastide d'armagnac and Larresingle are on the doorstep.
Our local town Eauze was a former Roman capital and houses a fine collection of Roman jewellery and coins in the museum and archeological remains in the Domus de Ciuetat. At Seviac there is a beautifully preserved Roman villa with exceptional mosaics.
Eauze is a busy small town with one of the best weekly markets in the department. There are restaurants, bars and three supermarkets and the cathedral Saint Luperc which dates back to 15th century is on the Chemin de |Saint Jacques de Compostelle.

The 200 square metre former armagnac chai houses ping pong, badminton and table football and outside there are 5 hectares of private garden and woodland with 12 x 6 m private swimming pool, swings, croquet, badminton and boules court. Lexis is a tranquil setting from which to discover the unspoilt wealth of rural Gascony.

The maison de maitre is steeped in character and charm.
The Pigeonnier is small but perfectly formed. It was converted into a stylish self catering country gite in 2007. There are 70m2 of living space with 2 bedrooms and a shower room on the first floor. Downstairs there is an open plan living area, with a fully equipped kitchen at one end and dining space in the middle. Outside there are terraces to north and south and a private south facing garden. The pigeonnier is equipped with UK and French TV and broadband Wifi connection. It has it's own acces road and is self contained.
Lexis is on the western side of The Gers, 7km from the pretty market town of Eauze which has an excellent weekly market as well as bars, restaurants and supermarkets. There are medieval bastides and villages all around the department which is steeped in a rich history. Eauze was the regional capital in Roman times and there is a fine collection of treasure in the museum and outstanding mosaics at Seviac.
Golf de Guinlet, an 18 hole course is ten minutes away; the music festivals of Marciac, Vic Fezensac and Mirande are all within easy striking distance; the beach at Mimizan, excellent for bodyboarding and surfing and the Pyrenees are highly recommended for day trips.
